In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of Salzburg’s most historically significant concert halls where the Mozart family once made music, works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and George Gershwin will be performed this evening. Ensemble 1756, founded in Salzburg and featuring graduates of the Mozarteum, combines stylistic precision with vibrant chamber music.
The program ranges from Mozart’s Salzburg Symphony in D major, K. 136, and the Piano Quartet in G minor, K. 478, to the Serenade in G major, K. 525, "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" – music that spans from youthful clarity to dramatic depth. With Gershwin’s "Rhapsody in Blue," the evening transitions into a world of rhythmic energy and jazz-inspired freedom, bridging classical tradition and modernity.
At the piano, Minka Popovic shapes this musical dialogue with stylistic versatility and expressive power. A concert that places the contrasts and commonalities of two eras at the heart of the performance.
