Description

In the Baroque Marble Hall of Schloss Mirabell, one of Salzburg's most significant concert halls where the Mozart family once performed for the Salzburg archbishops, the Ensemble Altenau presents a concert featuring works from the 18th and 19th centuries. Named after Schloss Altenau – today's Schloss Mirabell –, which was built by Prince-Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau for his companion Salome Alt, the ensemble unites five experienced musicians from five European nations.

The program includes Haydn's Divertimento in D major, Mozart's Salzburg Divertimento in F major, and his famous serenade "Eine kleine Nachtmusik." The evening is further enhanced by Bizet's "Carmen Suite" and Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto in D major RV 93, performed by the internationally renowned guitarist Cecilio Perera. Specializing in music from the 18th and late 19th centuries, the Ensemble Altenau combines historical performance practice with vibrant chamber music at the highest level.
